WNPX is Now Moving Repack Channel 32

- Posted May 15th, 2019 at 9:44pm
Yes, you read it right, they are moving. It is because —

"ION was unable to reach accommodation with the tower landlord that would permit the station to continue operating from its current site. This forced ION to identify a new site for the station’s post-repack operations."

And that new site is located just south of Cross Plains west of I-65 in Robertson county. Why they chose that site —

"Before selecting the proposed tower location, ION performed a comprehensive analysis of available tower sites in the Nashville market. In the immediate vicinity of the current tower site, ION’s market analysis found no acceptable alternatives that would provide equivalent interference-free coverage as compared to the Station’s pre-auction or authorized post-auction facilities. ION was, however, able to identify an acceptable tower site to the northeast of the current authorized site."

So, there you have it. To some of you who watch WNPX via antenna and live south of Nashville, you will have a weaker signal or no signal at all when the repack comes. However, if you live north of Nashville maybe even in Kentucky, your signal will get better. Also, they will be going from 733kw where they are right now to 550kw. Well there you have it. By the way, I got the quotes from an FCC file. I am posting a link to the whole document below. It is a PDF file. Until more news breaks, that is all for now.
