WTVF Has Released Exact Time for Repack

- Posted September 25th, 2019 at 5:32pm
I just saw a crawl at the bottom of the screen that says, "If you use an antenna, you need to rescan at 10am on October 18th to keep watching NewsChannel5". I will keep you up to date with all the channel changes that will be coming on or around October 18th. For a layout of what is going to happen, you can click here for all of the Nashville stations that are changing channels. Just to note, WKRN 2, WSMV 4, WCTE 22 (Cookeville), WUXP 30, and WPGD 50 will not be changing channels. That is all for now.

The two towers you are speaking about in regard to WNPT, WKRN is on one and WNPT is on the other. Back in 1973, when there was the channel swap between channel 2 (WDCN-now WNPT) and channel 8 (WNGE-now WKRN), the agreement was that WNGE had to provide a transmitter and tower for WDCN in perpetuity and the various owners of channel 2 still had to provide the transmitter and tower for channel 8 to comply with the channel swap agreement approved by the FCC. What I am wondering is channel 8 going to piggyback onto channel 2's tower and channel 8's tower will be dismantled?

Just because I'm not super well versed in how the repack works. Does that mean ALL channels listed on that link will be doing the repack at the same time or just WTVF?

The stations that will change channels on or around Oct. 18th will be WTVF 5, WZTV 17, WNPX 28, WHTN 39, WJFB 44, and WNAB 58. WCKV 21 will change before Oct. 18th, because it is now on a channel that WNAB will change to. WJDE 31 would have changed on Oct. 18th, but have experienced delays and will change between Oct. and Jan. WRTN will change anytime before July 3rd, 2020 so that WNPT can change channel on or before July 3rd. WLLC 42 can change channels anytime in the next two years.
