That's good of them to expand news coverage on WSMV.

All made possible because NBC is movie that old soaper, Days of Our Lives, to Peacock. I'd hate to be working the phones the day that switch takes place.

Maybe they'll add more UHF translators for the upper cumberland/east middle TN. I hate losing WSMV (and RF 5, WTVF) every night from stupid LED based security lights.

So, in September, WSMV's early morning/daytime weekday schedule will look like a News channel rather than a general entertainment station. 16 straight hours of basically news programming. Just goes to show the media landscape is changing and WSMV is trying to find a niche they can sell. News and Sports is what still captures "live" viewers. We are going to streaming providers for our entertainment programming. It's probably only a matter of time until one of the big 4 converts to this model. 3am-4am Early Today|4am-7am News 4 Today|7am-9am Today|9am-10a Third Hour Today|10am-11a Today with Hoda & Jenna|11am-1p News 4 Midday|1p-2p NBC Network Newscast|2p-3p Today in Nashville|3p-4p News 4 at 3:00|4p-5p News 4 at 4:00|5p-5:30p News 4 at 5:00|5:30-6pm NBC Nightly News|6p-7p News 4 at 6 & 6:30

It's hard to call the various "Today" shows news anymore. Yes they include news, but they've really become more of a general entertainment program with a variety of other kinds of segments including commentary, cooking, music acts, how-tos, celebrity worship, shopping tips, pet helps, etc. Infotainment maybe?

I see this as simply a cost savings move. They will be eliminating having to pay for two syndicated talk shows they are currently airing that have lousy ratings. Plus, they will be losing any ratings numbers they had once Days of Our Lives moves to Peacock. Much cheaper to use staff for news, sports, and entertainment programming to fill those slots. On another interesting note, The Kelly Clarkson Show will be moving from 9am to 3pm in September on WTVF, since The Ellen Show is no more. I haven't heard what is going to fill the 9am time slot.

Taking off some old shows and replacing it with new content with cheaper results is something businesses will do everytime they can.

Long gone are the days when daytime programming, especially the soaps on the big three, had 10-15 million viewers. Same goes for the network morning shows. I remember when WTVF only broadcast the final hour of CBS' morning show until CBS made it a requirement for affiliates to broadcast the entire two hours.

They are not adding content, only increasing repetition. Same stories repeated every thirty minutes.

Is WSMV getting GetTV? I'm getting a test pattern on channel 4.6. It is identifying as GetTV.

I seen that on Rabbitears Get TV is being moved from 30.2 to 4.6. I think Quest will be on 30.2 instead of Get TV and I seen a few weeks ago that Quest showed up on 30.2 guide and programming was tailered from what Quest was showing at the time but still showed Get TV programming.

GetTV is now on 4.6. It is also still on 30.2. I wonder when it will be replaced on 30.2.

Possibly it will be changed sometime in the near future.
