WJFB Still Not at Full Power

- Posted December 5th, 2019 at 2:02pm
Just to give everybody an update. WJFB is STILL not at full power, but they are operating at a much better power level then they were just last week. Until news breaks, that's all for now.

I may take a chance and try a rescan, but if I do, I may not get it and lose WZTV and WNAB on my guide, because they are so weak, but a chance to get MeTv back would be worth the risk and I can always rescan early morning and get everything back.

I was getting a great signal Thursday from 44.x until about 11:30 PM, then it went away. As I have said on other posts, I have no issues with 40.x at all. Hopefully, WJFB will get things sorted out soon.

Thanks for the update information everyone. I did a rescan around 6:30 p.m. CST on 12/5/2019 in Rickman (Overton County), TN from a distance of 59 miles and 97 degrees magnetic east/north from WJFB tower. I've got a TCL/Roku 55" connected to an Antennacraft U8000 bow-tie antenna UHF-only antenna and CM-37777 preamp. I'm pointed due west. I've got a gable-end supported mast erected 22' from ground level on the high-ground end of my house. I've got only a 3/12 roof pitch so it's very easy to slide down my mast and do work and/or testing if needed. This latest scan caused me to lose WZTV and WNAB on my t.v. tuner guide that were both showing up on my last rescan, but that I rarely receive since Repack 6 with those stations still in degraded mode. Currently, since my last scan, I've retained virtual channels 2, 5, 20(east-38 miles / Crossville), 22(south-7 miles / Cookeville), 28, 30, and 50. I gained WJFB-44 with two bars; also showing two bars this morning at 4:15 a.m. Since my tuner signal meter will never show only one bar, I can't know just how weak the WJFB signal is, but I've not seen any drop outs so far. At this early morning hour, as a comparison of signal strength, WTVF is showing all 5 bars from a distance of 78 miles and 85 magnetic degrees from my location with my set up; so WJFB is quite weak by comparison. I have been able to receive virtual channel 40 a time or two since Repack, but is not currently available on my tuner and can be received only in the middle of the night at my location with my set up; so WJFB-44 is a far better hope for me to get for MeTv than the retrans on 40.

I live in Dickson. So happy to now be getting MeTv. I was thinking it was gone for good but it is back.

Channel 6 is having more woes than usual. Wrote to the owner a couple of days ago, no response yet. 6-2 is a black screen. 6-3 displayed a message that ThisTV had moved and (I guess the station) to call if you see this message. Now it is a "No signal" message. 6-5 is frozen. 6-6 a different No signal message. And 6-7 is frozen. Noticed 31 still isn't coming in, though most of the networks I wanted are now on 40 and 44. All 35's subchannels were displaying a message for a couple of days, glad it is back on, though I'm getting a lower signal, pixelated. Getting 40 and 44 at good quality. As with others, changing to 58 dropped 58-4 on my TV (a bit older Samsung).

I received an e-mail back from Rick Goetz about WRTN. He is waiting on a satellite receiver to come in to receive This TV. They must have changed encryption or something?. He said they were also going to be re-aligning the satellite dishes.
