WJFB 44 New Signal is Live!

- Posted May 23rd, 2021 at 8:23pm
The signal just came on. Now, I don't know if it is finished or not. Right now, I am getting it at full blast. I will probably get an all done e-mail in a little bit. When I do, I will post it, but right now, the signal is on. Also, right now, for the moment, there is no MeTV Plus.

Update at 8:31pm: - Well, will you look at that. That was fast. I just got an e-mail already, and it is very informative. He said, "We’re bringing up power slowly now. We’ll operate at the new site for about an hour, slowly creeping up power until 9p or so, and then we’ll run full power from approx 9-9:30p then switch back to the old site. So that we can coordinate the switch with all cable and satellite providers, we will do the switch tomorrow at 3p." So, there you have it. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

Update at 8:45pm: - New E-mail sent at 8:43pm - "We are now at full power. We will stay on the air until 9:30 and then switch to the other site. We will switch to the new site for good tomorrow at 3 PM." Also, asked about MeTV Plus, he said, "No plans at this time."

Update at 9:25pm: - Another e-mail update @ 9:20pm - "We will shut down in about 10 minutes, switch to the old site at 9:30p tonight, then switch to the new site at full power for good beginning at 3 PM tomorrow." I also asked about WKUW-LD, and he said, "We are dropping our signals off of that a week from tomorrow." By signals, he meant their networks. As of right now, that's it. I may not update this any more tonight. So, until more news breaks, that's all for now.

Great signal at my house 10 miles North of Bowling Green! Signal is comparable for me to WPGD. WTVF (RF36) and WNPX are stronger, but negligible. WZTV/WUXP are a bit weaker.

Thank you for the watchdogging and all of the updates. So when the Weigel networks are dropped from WKUW, anyone know what goes on 40?

When you say "watchdogging", all I did was leave a portable DTV on WJFB's channel with the volume turned way up. So when the signal came on, I was ready to post. I also tried to ask someone at HC2 Broadcasting about the future of WKUW 40, but I never did get a reply back. The contact I had at the company is no longer there.

Man you are a TV nerd. :) So am I! I left my HDHR4K PC app tuner on 25 to see as well when it came on air again.

Yes, I am. I actually also had my HDHR PC app open as well.

Yep. when I heard audio on my PC I knew it was back. Great great work NashDigie. Can I ask, are you having any issues with WKRN (1.0) at the moment with these changes?

Sorry, I can't tell you because the other week they were installing a water line on my road, and they left a dump truck on the curve in front of my house and left it. It is still there. Right in front of my channel 2 antenna. So I have been pretty much without WKRN or WNAB 58.1 since then. Ugh!

Great news. Great reporting. I wondered why it was only coming in on my WKRN-aimed Televes antenna, and not my CM3020 aimed toward WUXP/WTVF/WZTV/etc. With the massive amount of skip I'm getting this morning, I'm even getting WKUW-LD right now. With near 100's on everything, in every direction lol. Physics can bite me. Because in 1 hour or so this will all be gone again.

As per the last update, does this mean the 44s which are off again in Portland, will return to the airwaves this afternoon around 3:00? Thank you

Yes, that is exactly what is going to happen per the e-mail I received last night.

Has WPGD lowered power again, or are they back at full power? I'm trying to figure out if the reason I can't get the station is my setup/environment or they're at LP until WJFB is at full power too this afternoon.

I don't know if it is or not. I, too, have lost both WPGD and WKUW. I use to get them both solid, but I ask my contact with Weigel, he said they should be back up to full power, but he didn't know for sure because he is not in charge of those channels. Need to check my setup to make sure there is nothing wrong with it.

I was never able to get WPGD solidly. But I was able to get it here and there. I am hoping my experience with WJFB will be better, because it's lower on the UHF RF band. I guess by 3pm today we'll find out. Anytime there is wind I lose WKRN for most of the time anyway. Everything becomes harder to receive. Except the ATSC 3.0 channels (QAM16 versions), and for some reason FOX 17 (RF 20). Probably since I'm EDGE 2. Dang Physics lol. Good luck on your setup checking. :)

Thanks you NashDigie. Having OCD I tend to rescan way too much but my older tv isn't a Smart TV & rescanning loses channels not active. I appreciate all the info
