WJFB 44 New Signal Update

- Posted April 26th, 2021 at 3:34pm
A big thanks to sensiblecinema7217, he received an e-mail from Weigel Broadcasting today explaining what will happen with WJFB in the next few weeks. If you haven't noticed, WJFB has lowered their power today. They are currently still broadcasting. I am posting the e-mail he received down below. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

"Over the next few weeks, we are finalizing a number of technical improvements to the over-the-air signal of WJFB Ch. 44, which includes the TV antenna broadcast signals for MeTV, Heroes & Icons, Start TV, Decades and MOVIES!. During this period, there may be reduced power from the WJFB Ch. 44 transmitter, and some periods where the signal is not available. By the third or fourth week in May, we expect to serve the Nashville area with a much stronger signal that will be widely available on broadcast television. Thank you for patience during this transition. Weigel Broadcasting Co."

I live in the fringe area of WJFB, but generally a very watchable signal. Yesterday, I had no signal from WJFB.

You may be able to get a somewhat better signal once they go onto the higher tower. Keep your fingers crossed!

My hope is I can finally get them in McMinnville. I can get all the stations at the I-24 tower farm. It's not the best, especially WTVF (RF 5 or 36). But Fox is great, and the ATSC 3.0 signals are great too. My elderly mother doesn't like the change however. She asked if we'd lose it via Charter/Spectrum. I told her I didn't know. But probably not.

Here are the changes predicted to the coverage once the transmitter is moved. It shows it reaching nicely into the western part of Nashville, Dickson, and here in Fairview where it has never before been all that reliable without a massive, high antenna. https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/api/download/attachment/25076ff375fc967501760037a4bc061c

I get good signals from the Nashville stations, WTVF (36), WZTV/WUXP, WNPX, and WPGD. These signals are about as reliable as the local Bowling Green stations. I believe WJFB's new transmitter location will be very similar to the other Nashville stations I can pick up reliably.

I get WUXP, WZTV, and WNAB well. Seldom have issues. WTVF RF 5, and 36 are hit or miss. The 3.0 signal is a tad more stable for WTVF. I really hope this move and power increase will help people like me. My antennas really like RF 20-30.

Looks like May 15 will see the debut of "Me TV Plus" by some Weigel owned stations. This appears to be the day Bounce TV will move from a Weigel owned station to Scripps in Chicago. I wonder if this is a local contract situation or if May 15 is the day Scripps moves Bounce to its own stations. Possibly Bounce TV moves from WKRN to WTVF on this day, too? With WJFB now being Weigel owned, maybe they will make room for Me TV Plus, also. https://www.robertfeder.com/2021/05/03/weigel-expands-memorable-entertainment-menu-metv-plus/
