WDHC 11 in Dickson May Change Channel

- Posted August 20th, 2024 at 6:49pm
I just found out that WDHC 11 which broadcasts, as far as I know it does, in Dickson is changing channels. They have filed with the FCC to switch from VHF channel 6 to UHF channel 18. Just for the ones that might not understand, they will still show up on your TV as channel 11. They are only changing the channel they broadcast on. This change first has to be approved by the FCC, then they can change anytime after that. So, it could take a few weeks or it could be sometime next year or the year after that. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I checked the info on RabbitEars. Seems their channel change will also change their broadcast pattern, and since it's UHF, vs VHF, it won't cover as far. 53 miles currently. 30 miles after. https://www.rabbitears.info/market.php?request=station_search&callsign=70498#

I live 10 miles from the tower and cannot receive their signal with an outside antenna. I understand reception is better north of Charlotte and south Montgomery County.

Maybe once it is UHF you can get it. I know of situations that you could be 5 miles from the tower and get nothing because of terrain. I do hope you get the channel if it does move over to RF channel 18.

WWHL-LD station license was dismissed yesterday and was made to go offline permanently. That's what I read on the LMS Query. https://enterpriseefiling.fcc.gov/dataentry/public/tv/publicFacilityDetails.html?facilityId=995
