WCTZ 35 Now Has a Better Signal

- Posted January 26th, 2020 at 9:54pm
Well, apparently, they have been messing with WKUW 40 so they can work on improving WCTZ 35 because as of today, WCTZ 35 has a better signal. I still cannot receive it. I know that was a short post, but that is all I have for you right now until more news breaks.

I rescanned this morning in Lebanon, both WKUW 40 and WCTZ 35 coming in strong without plexing.....WJFB 44 is broadcasting but seems to be at a lower power with a lot of plexing on 44.1-44.5. I live about 5 miles from the transmitter on Franklin Rd just off of 840. The higher channels 44.6 and 44.7 seem to have not problem. I like having BUZZER 35.1 and Quest back OTA hope we can keep them this time.

Always got 40 with little problem. Never have scanned and received 35, no matter what I do.

I just rescanned and I'm still not getting 35 on my bedroom TV. I can get it on my kitchen TV but not great. I will check and see if it's any better. I'm in Tusculum near Antioch.

This morning 35, 40, and 44-1 through 44-5 disappeared. I lost all of them. They all came back about 1PM, then 35 disappeared and has not returned. I hope that they are still doing work on them and all will be fine when they get through.

Channel 35 is back as of 5:30. I hope it stays on.

I can't tell much difference on my kitchen TV that channel 35's signal is any better. The signal should be better than channel 40's. 35 is transmitting with more power.

I'm getting a signal strength of 92 on Channel 35 here in Gallatin. Channel 40's signal strength here is only 82 and channel 31's is 70. It may have to do with antenna location on the tower.

The signal is better north of their tower but to the south it's about the same.

I am getting excellent signal strength from 35.x from Gallatin.

I live in Donelson and both WKUW 40 and WCTZ 35 have a strong signal.

Can someone explain what is causing WKUW transmission to be so sporadic. I live near pleasant view only 16 miles from the transmitter in White House. Since October when we had to rescan, reception was good with few interruptions. Over this past month reception has been intermittent. For example, Last night reception was weak with a lot of drop outs. This morning reception was good. Tonight I get nothing on any of the channel 40 sub channels (metv, heroes, movies etc.). Other frequencies from that transmitter come in fine. I have 3 TVs in 3 different locations in the house and none receive channel 40.

The reason WKUW is so sporadic is because they are doing something at the transmitter tower. I have no idea what they are doing, but the other day I was able to lock WCTZ-LD 35 in on my TV for only the second time since they turned on WCTZ, but since then, they have been messing with all three of their channels: WKUW, WCTZ, and WJFB. I will e-mail them again and see if I can get any answer from them.

35 doesn't reach Carthage. I do really well with 44 though. I don't know if I need a new set up, my antenna and booster are about 6 yrs old now - but I've lost 58, 2 is not watchable, and 4 is spotty. It didn't used to be that way. I now all the power moves, but it really has knocked a lot out. I'm wondering if I added a rotator if that would help to "dial" it in?

A rotor might help. What kind of antenna do you have?

I think channel 58 is at reduced power. However channel 2 and 4 were not in the repack and should not have changed at all. Mabey you should check and see if your antenna connections are good or if your antenna has moved.

Sorry, just now seeing your replies. Not sure of the brand - we've had it about 6 years.

I picked up WCTZ-35 for a bit this morning (Sunday, February 9); first time I've ever seen it on my screen including an atmospheric event one time that had me viewing channel 19 out of Huntsville, so it must assuredly be its strongest-ever signal. I'm also picking up WNAB-58 with only ocassioanal pixelation, which is very rare even before repack. WZTV is trying to come in for me but not watchable. So what I'm stating is that, while I can see these programs this morning, it's only a temporary treat for me but I added them anyway.
