W35DZ Running on Reduced Power

- Posted December 22nd, 2023 at 10:00am
I just found out that W35DZ in the Cookeville area hadn't started broadcasting at 15kw yet. They are just broadcasting at 9kw. They applied for a special temporary authority (STA) to broadcast at that power. I am attaching below a part of their letter to the FCC that they filed w/ the STA. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

"On September 29, 2023, the FCC issued a construction permit authorizing Licensee to construct facilities for the Station to operate at 15 kW ERP using a directional antenna at a height of 152.4 meters above ground level and 761.1 meters above sea level. File No. 0000221471 (the “CP”). The new transmitter required to provide the power level authorized under the CP is currently undergoing equipment authorization. The transmitter currently used by Licensee, meanwhile, can achieve a power level of 9 kW ERP. Accordingly, Licensee requests authority to operate the Station using the parameters specified in the CP, but at the reduced power of 9kW ERP until its new transmitter arrives. Licensee currently expects to receive and install the new transmitter within six months."

Nevertheless I can get it solid. If only the other Nashville stations would follow WSMV. Where did this info come from?

Surprisingly I can get W35DZ pretty good at this moment even if it is not at full power. Thanks for the post I have not seen it yet.
