W29FR Should Be Back Up

- Posted June 14th, 2022 at 2:25pm
I just got word from WSMV'S engineer that channel 29 should be back on the air. Could some of you confirm that?Bceause one, I am at work right now and two, I can't receive 29 at home anyways. I'll check back with this post a little bit later. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I checked and it is working. 4-11 through 4-51 are back, as well as 29-0 (Comet on my tv).

Channel 4,s signal is much weaker than it was. I used to get 4 bars for years , but now it’s 1 bar if I receive it at all. I’am 60 miles east of the tower. It’s not the weather this is all the time. Anyone else notice this?

Grey has enough translators now. There isn't a reason signal loss should be this bad. It's why WTVF has RF 36 as well as RF 5. VHF by nature requires a VERY large antenna, and low noise, and clear signal path. These OTAs need to get with 3.0 better, or get more power on these translators. I have schedules for day, and night channel usage viewing.

r451, I live 60 miles west of Nashville and sometimes, even at night, it is almost unwatchable. So tired of this!

I lose ALL VHF at night anyway. The new LED security lights my mother (co-owner of my house) has, causes ALL VHF loss when they power on. So I can get Huntsville at night for network programming (WAFF (RF 15), NBC, and WHNT (RF 19), CBS). SOMETIMES 3.0 is strong enough I can get WSMV on there. I have a HD HomeRun Prime/CableCard. But as of late I've lost WSMV (RF 10) during the day. That's rare. But I guess it's the weather. Like I get WTVF (RF 5) during the spring/summer. But lose in the fall/winter. Then I have to rely on RF 36 for WTVF or 3.0. I live in McMinnville. It's like I don't think WNPX (RF 32) cares at all about OTA. But that's another post.

Channels 2 (27), 8 (7) and 4 (10) give me the most trouble of any of them. And, of course, I'm on the west side of Nashville so I can't get the LD 15 or 29 translator channel 4's. Everything Nashville broadcasters come up with ALWAYS benefit the eastern regions. I have a rotator on my antenna so I tune to channel 7 in Jackson when 2 gets unwatchable. This is the only other ABC option I have.

Are you using an amp?

Yes, for many years.

I have been using amps from the major players (Channel Master, etc) for many years, but with so-so results, especially VHF. I finally found a great amp that solved all of my reception issues. It is the Televes 560383. It has automatic gain. Amazon sells it, but it is pricey there. I bought mine from Ness Electronics for 20.00 less than Amazon. You can check the specs on the Televes website.

Thanks...I'll check on it. I've used Channel Master for years but switched to Winegard a few years ago.
