In the alert on the home page, I let y'all know that the tower that houses the following TV stations,
WRTN 6
WTNX (rf 15)
WNTU 26
WCTZ 35
WKUW 40
WJFB 44 and
WPGD 50,
lost power due to the snow/ice storm. That afternoon, WJFB came back on the air but at a lower power. Now, WJFB has notified the FCC about their situation. In the letter they sent them, it said in part,
"The
Station is currently operating at reduced power due to ongoing power outages resulting from the
January 2026 winter storm that impacted much of the country, including the greater Nashville
area. Specifically, on Sunday morning, January 25, 2026, the electric service feeding all tenants
at ASR 1233975 was lost due to impacts from the ice storm. Prior to the storm, WJFB brought a
temporary generator to the site to maintain operations for the Station in the event of a power
outage. Due to the storm’s severity, WJFB was unable to access the site and turn on the
generator until the afternoon of January 26. Because of significant amounts of debris on the
access road, fuel trucks remain unable to access the site, requiring WJFB to deliver diesel fuel to
the site via a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle. As a result, the Station is operating at 25% power
(250 kW ERP) until electricity is restored. Nashville Electric Service (“NES”) has indicated that
it expects power to be restored on or about February 8, 2026."
So, there you have it. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.
