Telemundo, WCTZ 35, and More News

- Posted May 4th, 2022 at 3:19pm
First, Gray TV, the new owner of not only WSMV, but also of W29FR and W15ER, has now made a deal with Telemundo to carry the network in Nashville. When and where it will be coming, I do not know at this time, but my guess (and that is just my opinion), is that it will either go where ION Mystery or CourtTV is now on WSMV. It will happen sometime this year. I am posting a link to the article below. Thanks to Leatherneck97, I forgot to mention that also includes WBKO in Bowling Green, KY.

Second, I meant to post about WCTZ 35 being off the air the other day, but I thought I would wait until I receive an e-mail before posting, but I never did receive a response. After a while of them being off the air, they came back on the air but only at a lower power. Now, today they have applied for an STA (Special Temporary Authority). It says that they are not broadcasting at 15kw but only at 4kw. They included the reason within the application, and it says in part, "The Station’s transmitter’s ERP has been reduced to 4.0kW as the Licensee is in the process of replacing a damaged power amplifier. Once the repaired power amplifier is received and installed, the station will be able to resume licensed operations" When they go back to regular power, I will let you know.

And finally, I have been receiving messages lately from visitors to the website with questions. I have been wondering how to answer them without having an e-mail address to respond. So, in the near future, I will be adding a FAQ page to the website where I can post those questions and answer them. So, if you have sent me a message with a question with no e-mail address, the new FAQ page is where you will find your answers. Don't worry, I still have all those messages. When I get that done, I will have the answers there. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I have noticed that the Gray O&O station out of Bowling Green, KY will have Telemundo in their line up in the future apart of the deal with the station affiliate. For reference it's WBKO.

Interestingly enough, the ION Mystery website is showing both WSMV 4.2 and WKRN 2.3 as affiliates. So maybe Telemundo is coming to 4.2 and ION Mystery is moving to 2.3? And didn't WSMV air Telemundo when they first began subchannel broadcasting back in the day?

I have no idea why they have listed WKRN 2.3 as an affiliate. Me personally, I don't think ION Mystery will be moving to WKRN 2.3, but I don't know. Companies may surprise us. Yes, they did broadcast Telemundo back in the day. I do remember looking at some of their stuff they broadcasted a few times back then, but I don't know Spanish. So, I didn't know what they were saying.

Channel 35 must've been having problems with the amp for a long time. I'm receiving channel 35 right now just about as good as I ever have.

Just so you know, WCTZ 35 is still operating at just 4kw. They haven't went back to 15kw yet.

I know, I wonder if that bad amp was causing signal problems? I'm receiving their signal now about as good as I ever have. A few weeks ago, I would've been lucky to receive their signal on one of my antennas.
