Reply Back About WSMV 4.2

- Posted July 11th, 2023 at 8:09am
I got a reply back from the Programming Coordinator at WSMV about 4.2's future. She said, "As of right now, we are still solidifying what is going to air in ION Mystery's place. We can let you know once we narrow it down." When I get that email, I will post it. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

ION Mystery is still on 2.2. I was wondering how long it would be before the station pulled the plug. Regarding the Dickson TV Station (I live in Dickson). Sign on the station door indicates Channel 11. Rabbit Ears indicates the station is at full power. However, I cannot receive the station because my antenna is not pointed in the right direction. Same is also truth of Channel 8.

brookskc, there may be just enough interference on the low-vhf band to say that you cannot get it from just any direction even though you live in Dickson. It may just only come in one direction if the interference isn't too much for the signal to handle.

I thought the replacement was going to be Telemundo myself then make the repeators repeat WSMV again instead of WTNX-LD.

Anyone that lives in the contour line of WNKY-LD could you please tell me that if it is offline or online so I know it is active. I've been trying to look for it and I know I'm close enough to get it but I'm not receiving it. Thanks in advance.

WSMV (RF 10) is VERY weak recently. Perhaps related to the change in 4.2? I have to solely use (RF 14) W14EE for WSMV at the moment. I expect EW Scripps to pull the ION stations back to WNPX at some point. I'd LOVE if they put Laff on 4.2. But We all know that ain't happening.

What do you mean by "...I expect EW Scripps to pull the ION stations back to WNPX at some point..."?

I think he means that all of the channels that ION owns will eventually be on WNPX instead of any other channel in Nashville.

I can’t figure out how to post questions-just replies. With that being said can anyone get channel 27.1 and the sub channels? I am not being then in anymore :(

It may be the weather affecting that or the station went down. I do not have a clue I'm too far out from Nashville to even get the channel in the first place.

I'm not sure what is going on but the PSIP info for W14EE is not being sent out. I cannot watch 4.10 and 29.1. EDIT: Both of the channels are back and nothing has changed. Must have been testing something I don't know.

My wife loves ION Mystery, as long as it's on a channel using antenna she will be happy. However I wonder what happens every so often with signal strength. There seems to be about a day or so out of the week that the signal on almost all my channels gets weak and cuts out. Does this several hours then comes back just great, it does it on my large living room antenna and smaller bedroom antenna, both have been checked by tv man and the ground and wire and balum are all working great. Doesn't do it everyday but at least once or twice a week, seems to do it at night more and also WCTE in cookeville doesn't seem affected as it is always on. I live in Monroe county Kentucky, southern part 1/2 mile from Tennessee line, I live upon a high area with no hill higher than me in sight at least. Lafayette in about 13 miles south of me. Oh I forgot to mention, I receive 69 channels.

It's the troposphere affecting WKRN. The power is only at 500 kilowatts and the sun wrecks havoc on lower powered channels. The same thing happens to me during the day sometime if it is hot enough. I'm 80 miles away and get it great with the exception of the weather being affected. Also WCTE is 40 miles from 40 me so it will always be a good channel unless the weather overamplifies the signal.

The 500 kW was when they had an transmitter issue. They're back to 1 mW.

On Rabbitears it still shows WKRN as half power at 500 Kilowatts. So I don't know.

WKRN 1.0 has been back to full power for quite a while. When they were at reduced power, my signal was around 24dB. It has been around 31dB for quite a while.

I would have gotten WKRN back up in my attic so I don't think it's back up yet.

It's the weather, smoke, etc causing signal issues. Local ones I can't get, strong ones I can't get. Ones 177 miles away, I can here and there. It is 3.0.

What do you mean? Are you getting ATSC 3.0 channels from that far away?

xmguy

I was. Yes.

Oh wow that's amazing. Did anything actually tune in or was it just overriding the signals?
