Updated 6/19/2020 - I'm sorry for not including this until now, but awhile back, I e-mailed Rick of WRTN back on June 15th about when he will change channels, and he said, "WE are looking at how soon the equipment will get here.". I told him to give me an e-mail once he had a date for the change, and he replied back, "Of course. 17 should be way better reception." So, that is all I know at the moment.
Repack Update - WNPT News
- Posted June 18th, 2020 at 3:17pm
I just learned that WNPT channel 8 will have to use a lower power auxiliary transmitter when they switch channels on July 3rd. The reason is because the tower crew is experiencing a delay in the installation of the antenna. They (WNPT) have applied for a special temporary authority (STA) to broadcast at a lower power (8.17kw) on channel 7 until September 3rd. Even though they are requesting for an extension of two months, they say in the FCC filing that they anticipate to have the antenna installed and operating at full power (17.65kw) within 30 days. So when they switch channels on July 3rd and you rescan your TV and lose them, don't worry. You may just have to wait a few days and/or weeks, and they will be back to full power once construction is done. By the way, right now, they are suppose to be running on lower power on channel 8 while they are doing construction. I do not know how much. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.
