New Network Coming to Possibly WKRN

- Posted April 26th, 2021 at 5:46pm
A new network is coming Sept. 1st. It will be called RewindTV. Nexstar, the owner of WKRN, is the one that is launching the new network. It will be classic TV shows from the 80s and 90s. I looked at the list of shows that will be on the network, and it looks like an Antenna TV 2. What I mean by that is, is that some if not all of the shows are currently airing on Antenna TV. It looks like they probably just made this network to fill in the gap where the E.W. Scripps networks will leave. For instance here in the Nashville market, some time down the road, both BounceTV and Grit will be leaving 2.2 and 2.4 respectively. So, my guess is that RewindTV will fill one of those gaps. Which one, I do not know at this time. I am posting a link to the story and to their website down below. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I hope that they keep the digital compression to a minimum when it launches. Antenna TV 17.3 here is truly horrible, bordering unwatchable compared to how AntennaTV looks in Chicago even over Locast and Stremium. For crying out loud Fox 17, who needs TBD?

WeatherNation was much better than TBD. Talk about a throwaway channel. When they made the switch, TBD was showing dangerous stunts and I wrote to the station manager and asked if they knew that this content was running and kids may get hurt or worse trying to emulate them. The reply I got back was that they had no choice but to carry TBD since Sinclair owns it.

TBD is absurd. Sinclair is using that as their default channel on ATSC 3.0 for RF 30. Antenna TV isn't that bad. I can get WHNT 19 from Huntsville as well, and they carry Antenna TV, and it looks the same.

That figures. Anyone who would care about that stuff would already have half a dozen devices capable of watching YouTube and would be so used to "on demand" viewing that they'd never watch this stuff on TV. Besides, who watching is going to buy Medicare supplement plans, catheters, incontinence products, AARP memberships, hearing aids, or hire mesothelioma attorneys?

There's a Spanish channel on 35.5 (WCTZ). I don't know what it's name is but it is showing Bein sports now.

I sure hope that someone picks up Grit. This is one of my favorite channels.

Actually, Grit has already found a home. It is broadcasting on WNPX 28.3. So, right now, Grit is on two channels - 2.4 and 28.3. It will stay on WKRN 2.4 until either when they (Nexstar) decide to take it off or replace it, or the contract to carry Grit expires.
