NC5 Plus Moving to The Spot 28 - Updated

- Posted June 17th, 2026 at 9:34am
Per a commercial I just saw, they say that beginning Monday, June 29, NewsChannel 5+ is moving to The Spot Nashville 28 (WNPX 28.1). Per TitanTV, that is true, but they also have NC5+ still airing on WTVF 5.2. Unless they were just talking about (some of) NC5+ maybe found on 28.1. So, I don't know where ION will end up. When I find out, I will post it here. Until then, that's all for now.

Update June 19 at 5:17pm - I just received word that yes 5+ is moving to 28.1. Also, something else. Read below for more changes.

'Yes, ION will move to 5.2 on June 29th. As for 5+ shows, almost all of the local shows will move over to The Spot-28. But not always in the same time periods.. "Open Line" is one of the shows that will not make the switch. Nick Beres will continue to host Morning Line at the same time. Other favorites like Southern Woods & Waters and Inside Politics will also be making the change to The Spot. '

So, there you have it. Like always, until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I wonder if ION will stay HD or be SD just because of how much space it will take up since 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 58.1, 58.2, 58.3 are on there. I think ION or another channel would have to be H264 for it to be HD on there.

WNPX needs to move closer to Nashville and up its power at this point. I already have to rely on 3.0 for WTVF, but the rest of the full-power stations I can get. Their broadcast area includes my county too. But RF-5 and RF-36 are unreliable for me. Yes. I’m using a high, outdoor, hq antenna.

The swap on NC 5+ and ION happened sometime today. ION is 720p at around 5-6 mbps and so is NC 5+.
