This is probably one of the most confusing tv group mergers I have ever seen. This merger is between three groups - Media General (WKRN owner), Meredith Corp. (WSMV owner), and Nexstar. It is about where both Nexstar and Meredith want to each merge with Media General. If Media General merges with Meredith, the new company would have to sell off either WKRN or WSMV per FCC Ownership Rules. Now, according to this article, it now seems that Nexstar is closer to closing on a deal with Media General. I have linked the article above so that you can read it for yourself.
