MeTV Toons Network Coming to WJFB

- Posted May 2nd, 2024 at 10:25am
I just found out that MeTV is starting up another network. This time it will be based on classic cartoons they have been airing on MeTV. They are calling it "MeTV Toons", and it will be coming this summer (June 25th to be exact) on a new subchannel WJFB 44.8. Right now, all I know about it is that it is just classic toons including some that have been airing on MeTV. I am providing some links below to some of the articles I found online that go into more detail about the new network. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I always look forward to new subchannels coming to Nashville. I wonder if the new channel will be on the satellite distribution for Weigel? Time will tell whether it will be. The reason I question this is because Me-TV+ is on antenna only. I also seen on satellite that the channel for Defy on the Scripps mux that has all the channels they carry has renamed it to Ion Plus OTA but no program changes just yet. Could be a potential channel change in the future on WNPX.

That's great! As far as Scripps, I gave up on WNPX. I got Frndly service.

I wish for the best of both worlds that at one time WNPX would move to Nashville put the power to 1000 kW and make it non-directional like WTVF in Nashville.

I can't get WTVF well on ATSC 1.0 either. Too much multipath. I can via 3.0, and a DRM decoding box. But I can get it somewhat. WNPX, not at all. So yes, a move, and power boost would be great!

Where I am I'm 50 miles as the crow flies away from WNPX and I get it decently. I can see where in Mcminnville that it is very hard to get because of the tower location and power. I think they did that because they didn't want to put a tower in Bowling Green and no affiliate was there previously.

If you can't get WTVF, I'm curious if you're seeing interference from nearby cellular sites? Since WTVF transmits on UHF 36, there are instances where a locally-strong cell signal in the former TV channels 38-42 cause third-order intermodulation components in UHF 36. There are "LTE filters" that try to reduce the signals above channels 36 from getting into your set and diminishing reception of channel 36. There are others, but here is one such filter - https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Interference-Pixilation-Installation-SDW1520/dp/B08HVT59F5

It's going to be on Roku or Amazon fire stick also, it'll be an individual app, but it's supposed to be a little different from the, from the one that's on the air channels they won't get all the same programming, that's what the guy that's the general manager MeTV said on the antenna man podcast.

That seems to be common for networks. LX Home does the same. They air "Lockup" OTA, but not streaming. So they have 2 versions of the same station.

It is due to programming rights.

Looking forward to this new channel. Love classic cartoons. I get the 44 channels on my antenna, but I also have Frndly and most of them are on it.

MeTV Toons has been added to the lineup of WJFB. It is 44.8 on the list.

44.8 was on the air at 1:00 afternoon. It was then a duplicate of Catchy. Now it's a prewiew of MeTV catroons. I'm looking forward to watching some of the old cartoons from years ago.

The only streaming platform they announced so far it's friendly TV, one more I seen, but I can't remember which one it is now

According to metvtoons.com it will be on 44.8, TDS TV 75SD/1075 HD, TDS + 75, Frndly TV and Philo. Metvtoons, com also has the schedule for 06/25/2024. I was surprised to see Gerry Anderson's puppet shows (Thunderbirds, Supercar, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90 and Fireball XL5 From 2:00AM to 5:00 AM in the morning (06/26) as I remember it as a puppet show. There are some really good cartoons as well as some I don't care for here. I also saw Toon In With Me showing at 10:30 PM which makes me wonder if they are removing it from ME TV+.
