ION Plus Coming Back to WNPX

- Posted June 28th, 2024 at 2:46pm
I just found out that the ION Plus network will be coming back to over-the-air TV on WNPX. Per Rabbitears.info, they will replace DefyTV, and DefyTV will be airing on WCTZ 35.4 and WKUW 40.2. Also, per an article linked below, they will begin airing this Monday, July 1st. When ION Plus was pulled from OTA, it was only available via streaming and other platforms. Now, it is making a comeback to OTA. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I seen this coming months ago on the satellite backhaul. They changed the name of Defy to ION Plus.

I really wish they would find a way to move WNPX to the WTVF tower for a bigger reach, or I’d be happy if they found a way to put ION on 5-3 and Scripps News on 5-4 so more people can watch it over the air. I can’t get WNPX from my home.

I was wondering why I woke up to see Defy on 40.2 so I investigated. According to Wikipedia, Free TV Networks (who run The365 and Outlaw) purchased the "Defy" branding just before the announced "Dare" launch, so Defy essentially died and got resurrected simultaneously.

I didn't know that. Thank you for letting me know.

For anyone that can help me out. If you can contact Gray Television about adding Defy TV to WTNX. I can no longer get Defy TV at all and I wonder if they are thinking of adding it to WTNX and its repeators.

That's not a bad idea. That would add it to W14EE too.

That is my point, Xmguy. I do not know the contact info to ask about Defy TV.

I lost Defy because my 40.2 is in Bowling Green.

Can you receive WCZU channel 39 out of Bowling Green? It is on there too.

I was out of town until Sunday, but since returning WCZU 39 has been completely off air. I live near the broadcast tower. I believe there may have been a power outage from storms while I was away which may be the culprit.

I can’t figure out how to do anything but reply to posts on here….but has anyone lost all of the 27 series channels in Nashville? I usually watch every night the Heartland tv channel…but they are all gone and was curious if anyone else was having the same issue?

WWHL might be at a lower power than usual. It was picked up by an antenna last night near Franklin, TN.

I do hope they come back in for you soon.

Defy, from now Free TV Networks launched on WBXX (31) 20.6. East TN and some of middle TN market.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to rely on WBXX. I can get it but it's location and power just make to where I get it at night. Maybe if I had a dedicated antenna for it then it could work.

I contacted the engineer about adding Defy TV to WTNX and its repeaters and the answer was no. There are too many affiliates already in Nashville. Next I went to WBKO in Bowling Green and I asked the program director about adding Defy TV to it and I'll call back in a few days to ask again for it. Update: WBKO said not at this time.
