Thanks to both itgrouch and CableCutter for the info, it was announced today that E.W. Scripps; owner of NewsChannel5, other TV stations around the country, Bounce, Grit, Laff, CourtTV, CourtTV Mystery, and Newsy; has bought ION Media, which includes ION Television Network among other ION networks and all their broadcasting stations including WNPX here in the Nashville TV Market. Per the below links, they bought ION Media for $2.65 Billion. Also, to accommodate FCC rules, they say in some of the articles that they are going to sell off 23 ION stations. They already have a buyer and the new buyer will keep the ION affiliation. They don't say who the new buyer is nor do they say which stations are going to be sold. So, right now, I don't know what this means for WNPX or the ION Networks. All of this won't come to fruition until the first quarter of 2021. By the way, like the articles point out, this will make Scripps have a bigger role in the roll out of ATSC 3.0. All of the articles I have found are listed below. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.
