BG, KY News - WCZU 39

- Posted August 11th, 2022 at 8:58pm
Just thought I would let people know who live near or in the Bowling Green area that WCZU 39 has been off the air since July 27th and the reason why it's been off the air. Per the document (PDF file) they filed with the FCC, they said, "The specific reason for the period of silence is due to the damage of one of the transmitter’s pallets. The Licensee is working diligently with the local engineer and transmitter vendor to resolve the outage as quickly as possible. Once the transmitter is repaired, the station will return to licensed operations." Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I'm too far away from Brownsville to get channel 39 sadly. Most of the Bowling Green locals with the exception of 13, 24, 40. Lucky for me though I get my locals from Nashville better than Bowling Green with the exception of channel 13.

I can confirm WZCU 39 remains off the air as of this morning. I live nearby WCZU. The tower they broadcast from is within view from my house. They transmit from a very rural area and it is not uncommon for them to be off the air for long periods (weeks at a time) following a storm/power outage.

You live near WCZU? Must have good reception for everything in Bowling Green. I live in southern Monroe County towards the Tennessee border. I'm lucky to get the major affiliates out of Bowling Green. I've only got channel 39 once and that was for a second years ago.

Yes, I get all of the BG channels (11, 13, 24, 39, 40, and 53) and many Nashville channels (5, 17, 28, 30, 44, and 58 reliably… 2 and 4 not so good). Occasionally I get Evansville and Louisville channels, too.

I knew you did because of how close you were to Bowling Green.
