Update on New Channels

- Posted July 22nd, 2021 at 2:24pm
I have some updates on new broadcast channels coming to the Nashville area. If you may remember, there were four channels starting out in the Cookeville/Algood area. Before I go any further, I would like to say that none of these channels are broadcasting at this moment. They are just being moved until they reach their permanent location. Well, as I have already said, W35DZ channel 35 is moving East to Knoxville, so that's that. Also, W14EE channel 14 is right now still located in the Cookeville/Algood area. They haven't done anything with that station as of today. Now, both W15ER channel 15 and W29FR channel 29 have been moving ever so closer to Nashville. Right now, W29FR is located at the old WJFB TX site on Franklin Pike near Lebanon, TN while W15ER is located at a tower next to the Jefferson Street bridge on the East side of the Cumberland River in Nashville. Also, I said in another post about two channels near Jackson in West TN. Channels 9 and 14. Now, W14EJ has stayed pretty much in the Jackson area, but W09DM channel 9 has moved closer and closer and now rests on the same tower as W15ER in Nashville. Whether these are their final locations, I do not know, but they are now closer to Nashville.

Now, about WDHC 6 in Dickson and WRTN 17, as far as I know right now, they are still coming this month, but I haven't heard or seen anything that tells me different, but I may have more news shortly about either one.

What I have said about WDHC and WRTN also goes for both WNPX-LD channel 20 (RF 24) and WNTU-LD channel 26 (RF 26). They are still on track to coming on the air on or before January 10th of next year because they were granted a six month extension on their permits. I believe that is all I have for you. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

WRTN has had only 2 watchable channels for the last week (6.1 and 6.4). This TV (6.3) has been dark, 6.5 and 6.7 have been unwatchable and 6.6 has shown "no signal". I don't know if that means anything, but I'm hoping he is waiting until he changes channels to fix these problems.

Thank you for the tip. Are you close enough to see if it is already broadcasting?

I live in Dickson. I drove by the Radio/TV Station located on College Street. They have the TV6 logo posted on their front door/window. I check each day for 6.1 and as of yesterday no signal. Any word on WRTN?

Thanks. No, no word yet. He has until 9/24/21, a little over a month, to change WRTN channels from 8 to 17. I might find out myself when WDHC comes on the air, but if I don't, keep me updated.

FYI -- I called the Radio/TV Station (today) and ask when the TV Station would be live and was told they are still in the process of getting things ready. I got no firm or possible date as to when they would be on the air. The person I talked to was very polite. As far as WRTN is concerned I wish another LP or Full Power Station would get the contact to broadcast THIS TV.
