Two More Broadcast Changes Coming

- Posted December 1st, 2020 at 3:38pm
Well, the FCC is moving forward with the TV applications. They have finally granted two old ones, both from 2017. One is for WRCB, the NBC affiliate for Chattanooga. They will increase their power from 111kw to 160kw. Also, the other one they granted was for WBKO, the ABC/Fox/CW affiliate in Bowling Green, KY. They will be increasing power from 22kw to 46.5kw. The funny thing is, is that both WRCB and WBKO broadcast on RF channel 13, and I live right between them. So, I would like to see if either power enhancement will help me receive either station. By the way, just because both of these from 2017 have just now been granted, doesn't mean that WJFB's new application will take three years to be granted. They may grant it in a month or two. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I would say those who live int Tullahoma, Manchester and , Monteagle would be able to receive WRCB with no problem with they increase their power, For those of us in northern Middle Tennessee We might get WBKO with no problem. Only time will tell.

I live in McMinnville (20 miles NE of Manchester), I can't get ANY Chattanooga TV channels. I'm hopeful ATSC 3.0 will change that. I am 2 edge too. Even though my total elevation is over 900' above sea level, antenna CM3020 15' above ground.

Another addition is WJDE (channel 31) has added a Spanish language channel: Estrella on subchannel 31.9. Also channel 31 returned today after disappearing Christmas.
