Another WJDE Update

- Posted February 1st, 2021 at 4:03pm
I e-mailed WJDE, and I have received a reply from someone with the station. He said, "We had a glitch that caused the channel number to be off." Thanks to Cablecutter, he commented in the previous post that 11.11 NTD is now showing up as 31.11. In the same e-mail, I had asked him why it was labeled 31.11 instead of 31.10. Which he said in the same reply, "We will be launching something on 31.10 soon." So, I e-mailed him back and asked if he could tell me more about what is coming to 31.10, and he replied, "We will be putting on a new local channel based on a church feed." So, there you have it. That is all the information I have at this time. Until more news breaks, that's all for now.

I wish they can report to TiVo that 31.4 is not NewsNet anymore, and that it’s RetroTV. I have reported this to TiVo and they won’t change it after looking into it because the station told TiVo it’s still NewsNet. I then emailed the station and they replied that they will get with TiVo and get it corrected, and that still hasn’t happened. Not sure why it hasn’t been fixed after months of asking. I have to look at Ch 6.2 to see what’s on ch 31.4. In addition, TiVo just today started putting listings for True Crime Network (ch 2.3) on ch 31.2 but is still The Country Network. Not sure what’s happening with WJDE and their listings and channels!

TiVo has all but abandoned their DVR customers. They are focusing on their stream device, and from the things I have gleaned on the Internet, they are not that great. Long gone are the days when they had excellent customer service. I purchased two Bolt VOX OTA/Cable DVRs back in 2018 to replace two old Premier XL boxes that died after TiVo pushed a buggy firmware update. They did knock off quite a bit off the regular price. Since the FCC dropped the CableCARD mandate, a lot of cable companies are dropping support for them. Comcast, as part of the settlement of the lawsuit TiVo filed against them, are going to support CableCARDS until 2031, but Comcast has started moving channels slowly to IPTV and except for supplying TiVos to cable companies, I see them discontinuing the cable version of the Edge sooner rather than later. They have begun the process of punting the sales of the OTA Edge to Channel Master. I am glad that I cut the cord early last year and I bought the OTA/Cable version of the Bolt VOX. I'll keep using them until they die or TiVo drops support of them, which is entirely possible.
